Rule No.1 during hikes: Bring a good pair of track shoes

Pls read the rule above and remember it. It will save ur life.
Today I killed my nike air imitations bought in korea. The left side became a crocodile, before the whole sole was ripped off, and the right side had a small bomb detonated at the heel area. and yeah, it rained, so my socks were totally wet. wow. Needless to say i chucked it as soon i got home. Never felt so pissed off over a pair of footwear before.
Slept in bio lecture and chem tutorial in front of Mrs Tan, wonder if she knew but didnt say a thing. Sorry mam, just felt damm sleepy.
Got chewed out by eric lam, dont wanna talk about it...went home earlier than usual, skipped training as i had to go to ri then hq...
Argh, hope this vlc problem gets settled soon, otherwise i may just heck care PSA...although whether i will regret that decision is another thing.
Although i feel quite shitty now, i have to say this. I really have to thank the batch of 01 1999 for sticking together for the years, and you guys negate the hypocrisy of RJC. Thanks to nick with his sound advice and constant reminders to me that i am cocky, mogilan who has been the best boss one can get, adrian (jay) for his elephant laugh and frequent put-downs, but sound advice too, edwin for being the guy who talks the most outrageous cock, alvin for writing the most outrageous cock and having a great comic timing, lau for his many, many antics like dressing up as a troll, murugan for accepting all my racist jokes in a good manner, and also a nice guy to play soccer with, aaron for his seriousness, junseng for his indecisiveness, hum ji ness and his indiscretion in the mrt, albert for being the Kwai Lan king, fabian for being the clown (as always), non-gc ppl like brandon and his harems and com games, daniel for the arguments and pure stupidity, boon meng for his constant complaints of cheyl yap. kenneth teo and his evil stare, pk and his threats to sit on me, to the others as well, weiming, shihao, kitling, tse yang, yeah i didnt talk to u guys much, but im sure all of u feel that 01 has made a great impact on our lives, and when i feel like the whole of RJC is trying to screw me, at least i can find a friendly face to KB to...
In the end, we have left ri for some time, wad do u remember? for me i remember the hoarse voice in the ear telling me there's a horseshoe, i remember the hike along lim chu kang road, i remember the annual camp fun, i remember the flashflood in sec 2 gtc, i remember the townsville camp...
Yeah i guess i should stop now. 01 rules. Who cares about swimming?

Rebels, Jocks, Cowards

Nothing much to report actually, my life is not as exciting as alvin...only thing interesting was the fact that the below actually happened during Raffles Camp Briefing.

J1: What do we need the groundsheet for?
J2: To sleep on.
J1: In that case, can we bring sleeping bags? (They are 2 different things you know...)

J1: Are you saying we need 5 sets of RJC shirts and pants?
J2: Yes. You'll use throughout the 2 years in RJ. (Really?)

J1: I think it is a waste of money to spend $5 on a poncho and groundsheet. (huh? And you can spend on $5 on Starbucks?)

J2: Go Army market and buy if you do not have any of the items. (Have fun. Seriously)

J2: A lot of questions that should not be asked are being asked. (You said it man.)

I am looking forward to the camp.

Midnight
Midnight - You are a deep thinker, always searching
for answers and never quite at home. You are
very contemplative, and enjoy being alone with
your thoughts.

When are you?
brought to you by Quizilla

again true...but if i stay up till midnight means i will sleep in class again...

You are a dark writer. A fierce and loyal follower
of Poe and the other gothic authors, you LOVE
to instill a sense of revulsion and somewhat
fear in your readers. You love to poke their
brains with logic dealing with the darker side
of the human mind and character. Truly
surprising and a true individual, you'll do
ANYTHING to create a scene. :)

What's YOUR Writing Style?
brought to you by Quizilla

kinda true...i do write about depressing stuff...
For a good time, go...

I hereby declare alvin the better joker than fabian. why? read his blog.
It's Sunday, Arsenal slipped up against Bolton, ken toh had the nerve to disturb me during my generals game. too bad for him, Arsenal couldn't take the pressure. The title is Manchester United's for the taking.
Finally got some order in my homework now, finished up bio tutorial, but am unwilling to do maths tutorial 8, as I hate drawing graphs.
Drenched myself in fencing training yesterday. Edwin had to force me to allow him to spray deoderant on me...and i still stank. It's the stupid RJC shirt material.
I dont know if i will commit suicide by asking for cheif editor for outlook...
Next week is kinda slow, just the stupid leadership course...
crap. i need to be more cock. like alvin. this place is getting boring...

Changing of the guard

Much has happened since i posted, so let me fill you in on the happenings.
Woke up this morning to watch a resilient Manchester United best Real Madrid 4-3, but sadly it was not enough to beat Real...but despite that I once again applaud the never-say-die spirit of Man U, that's the quality I admire most of them.
Somehow, despite telling my interviewers that my first priority is 01, they still made me a faction member. Oh well, now i have to get ready for the camp next weekend.
And, despite my staunch opposition to the way council member are elected, somehow or another the right people were selected. Brandon got in despite only spending only $2 on campaigning, and some ppl who I felt didn't deserve to get in didn't get in. I am not against them personally, but sometimes a person of lower profile can do a better job than a popular person.
My commitments are of as below: 01, fencing, CT rep, outlook, R(A), AVU, Faction. It's mind-boggling a bit, but I hope I can cope to my best of my ability.
If you found my entries boring, I sincerely apologise as I am incapable of losing my bag to my friend's locker...read alvin's blog to find out. remember to laugh

Big Yellow Taxi by Counting Crows feat. Vanessa Carlton

Dunno why, but rather obessed with the above song...i thought that the lyrics were damm retro, and found out why as my mum told me it was an old song. In any case, i really love it, it is on par with the Wallflowers' One Headlight in terms of lyrics, although the latter had more meaningful and cryptic lyrics, while the former is more of a light-hearted, nonsensical manner. But if you look closer, it does tell me some things about how life is, like "they paved paradise and put up a parking lot".

Sighz, a good friend of mine will be losing someone dear to him this week. Here's something for him.

Time To Go

Leaving is a wretch,
No use sitting there, crying on that same old bench.
It all went by in such a flurry,
Now, sadly, we have reached the end of our story.

Nothing stalls the hands of time,
For the last time together we hear the church bells chime.
I knew it was coming a long time ago,
And also knew I wouldn’t be able to let go.

Aye, I had four months, short, sweet they were,
Everyday could have been a blur.
But you were there always,
Brighter than the Sun’s rays.

Our time together was always a ticking timebomb,
Eventually you’ll leave this place where we belonged.
Did you have illusions of neverending happiness?
I know I did, now it’s all sadness.

Now I stand here, next to the departure hall,
Hearing my teardrops slowly fall.
Because a big mechanical bird had taken her away,
All I could do is to sit and pray.

Vote For Me

Vote for me, she said,
Eyes flashing, pamphlet red.
Vote for me, she repeated,
And I will give whatever you wanted.

Vote for me, were the words,
And I promise not to follow the herd.
Vote for me, pleaded she,
Or else you’ll be all at sea.

Vote for me, came the resounding war cry,
And I will make the college fly.
Vote for me, this time coming from the other corner,
Shooting hard and fast, like a rabid gunner.

Vote for me, came the homely smile,
I promise to make it worth your while.
Vote for me, thrusting papers, stickers, bribes into my hands,
The baying wolves came in bands.

Vote for me, the single phrase revolving around,
All I could hear was that sickening sound.
Vote for me, came the final salvo,
Sadly there would be no crescendo.

To all campaigning councillors.
didnt post yesterday as the blogger website was screwed. seems like a lot of servers are kinda screwed, even yahoo's is messed up. been receiving mails rather late.
I like to do some free expression here. I really have to say i love brandon's style of campaigning. even if u have the biggest banner, it will not necessarily sway votes your way. anyway, i cant really be bothered, except being assaulted left right and centre by posters screaming "Vote ME!!" If i had my way, i would make them go through GTC. Anyone not dead and can cope with the punishment dished out in the camp can become a councillor with my blessings. But then the system works in different ways. Hey, it is just my 2 cents, all those prospective councillors dont be offended.
Feeling some inspiration, going to write a poem or something.

6-2

wooh, it was a great day overall. first of all, all residues of my stupid illness was gone, now i am running on 100% capacity.
1st stop of the day was RJC, where we had our weapons trial. Played with the foil for a while, found it very interesting, but i am still in need of practice. a lot of it. my lunges are quite lousy. anyway, midway went off to have faction interview, talked a lot of nonsense, then went back in time for the last lap of a series of 3 1.20 sprints. adrian was trembling and had white lips after it...looked as though he would faint.
Then next was lunch, where a nice old man sat with me and albert and started talking about his health problems and how we could avoid having them. the only problem was, we were eating, and i don't think neither of us were in the mood for a lecture.
On reaching Bishan, i was told that campfire was postponed to july and now the meeting's agenda was to watch johnny english. as u can see below, we had a very productive meeting. the movie was super funny, but some jokes were slightly predictable. at least it was not toilet humor, which i dislike. i highly recommend people to watch as it is very threapautic as it causes you to laugh your head off literally.
Then to add the icing to the cake of a great day, Man United bounce back from their Real loss to hand Newcastle a sound trashing, 6 goals to 2. the quote of the day is definately the last one by fabian. Scholes hat trick, Giggs right-footer, Solskjaer opener and another Van Nistelrooy penalty. Newcastle's defending was totally clownish, comical, amatuerish and suicidal, leading to my disgruntled Dad to say that Bramble was being bribed...But to score 10 goals against Liverpool and Newcastle...beyond my imaginations...Highbury, here we come.
That was the day that was. May more days be like that.
here are the minutes for yet another productive GC meeting on 12/4

attendance: everyone except tse yang
venue: junction 8
agenda: to watch johnny english

"Guys, tommorrow we cannot talk cock. If anyone talks cock i will have to pump him. I hope I don't need to pump Lau."

Edwin, setting the tone for the GC meeting on MSN the previous night.

"You don't have the tickets? Then who does?"

Aaron to Fabian. Eventually we found out that the tickets were with Murugan. After panicking for a while that is.

"I went to the food court toilet."

ZY when asked where he went when the cinema toilet was just a few paces away.

"That's my sister! And it is in black and white because she is dead! And don't spoil it! I have to put it in front of the hearse."

Fabian, when asked who was the girl in a black and white photo in his wallet.

"Give it to me lah!"

Jun Seng, as usual, trying to snatch away the laptop on which the rest were writing a chinese love letter to his crush.

"Lau, go and call Nick in your pakia voice."

Mogilan to Lau when Nick went missing before the movie.

"Oops."

Murugan when he tried unsucessfully to open his vanilla coke. In the end, he broke off the part which you use to open the can, and he was left with a small hole to drink from his can.

"Newcastle will win 8-1, as Van Nistelrooy will score a hotly-disputed penalty. We must give face what."

Fabian, boldly predicting the score of the night's big match.

Lau used his camera to take a photo of Murugan's butt.

it's now 11, eyes closing...feeling tired now. going to sleep soon, might as well say a few things before i do so.
I'm FINE.
no, I do NOT have SARS.
sheesh.
hi guys, just returned from a jaunt to taka thanks to the dynamic trio jay, ed & muru. they wanted to use my digicam to take qingcheng with a girl...damm lame. in the end we discussed the logistics for cf, then had to buy baguette (sp.?) for mum...who wasn't mad with me for taking time out of resting.
feeling much better now, thanks to all those who asked. stupid larry, will bash him up the next time the 4 of us meet...
took down the TMNT theme on request of some ppl, i admit it is quite loud.
Song of the day: Unwell by Matchbox Twenty. Cos i am feeling like that, but slightly better now...hope i can recover in time for tmr's weapons trials.

Thursday, April 10, 2003

ergh...last night was one of my worst nights in my life ever. had a slight fever, causing me to spend the whole night thinking if i had SARS...the next morning felt slightly better, but suffered a relapse. took a blue slip and visited a doctor, who finally allayed my fears by saying it was just a virus infection, and i was just scaring myself. phew. but i will most likely take sick leave for Fri as well, just in case...sheesh i was so freaked out that i refused to read newspapers cos all they reported on was on SARS...sighz...want to get well ASAP now that a load is off my mind...

Wednesday, April 09, 2003

just watched 2 more eps of TMNT (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles). Brings back memories...the new series is very well done i must say, cos it retains the corniness and pow-wow of the old, of cos they updated some stuff and also made some subtle jokes about their updated personas. One goes, when they were trying to break a keypad lock, Michelangelo commented wryly, "Man, what ever happened to good old-fashioned pad-locks?" That brought a smile to my face.
Yeah, guess all of you bored to tears listening to me gush about cartoons, new or old. In any case, hope u liked the new TMNT theme song. It is just only starting to get on me...
Hey, nothing wrong with watching cartoons ok?
haiz, last night tried to sleep at 9, failed, slept at 11 instead. then woke up at 5, tossed and turned until 5.45, checked my hp and realised fabian msged me the manu-real score. it was 3-1 and i booted up my com to check. and in the end, got fed up and got ready for school and left extremely early(by my standards).
Hope u guys like the improvements. Post more stuff though. Thanks
hello. now that school has reopened, let me share with u some insights in the recent GC meeting, which i sadly didn't attend due to SARS.
" Since all of us are off track now, I suggest that we take a 5 minute break to shit around"
L, during the productive GC meeting.
" It multiplied."
L, when asked how come the 5 minute break became a 50 minute break.
" Check out my light saber …"
L, after dismantling the lamp.
" I didn't destroy Nick's house …"
M, after dropping jelly on the floor, scattering the bread crumbs, spilling the drinks … etc.
" Playing CS is like having sex, you feel damn shagged after that."
E, after playing CS for 2 hours.
" HELLO! HI!"
E shouting, when he saw a girl at a distance.
" Maran was the chairman for ICC, I want to be chairman of ICC too …"
M2, discussing his goals for the year on the train.
" Opps … "
M2, after destroying his pants when he spilled some sprite on it.
" Hey guys … check out my 1 page proposal for refreshments …"
F, presenting his proposal when there are only 3 lines on the 1st page.
" I want to keep a fringe, because (his female friend) has a fringe too … hehe"
M, commenting on his hair.
" Give me back my phone!"
Jim, as usual when someone attempted to SMS his female friend.

there were more, but i decided to pratice self censorship lest i cannot stay healthy after the rest find out....

heyz, seems that while mog was creating his blog, he copied my source code and posted it, resulting in him "posting" my site on his. Great one there Boss.
Playing at the moment: You Make Me Wanna by Elva Hsiao
Highly recommended: Suteki Da Ne - Final Fantasy X Soundtrack. I know it is in jap but the rather "weird" scene in the game will always be stuck in my mind...those who played FFX would know...
School's in tmr, finally be able to get out and allay some boredom. Somehow i feel restless if i am not swamped with work...back to sleeping in lectures, frantically doing tutorials, struggling with maths, loving bio, going mad over chem, and trying very hard to understand econs...ah i love school...

Monday, April 07, 2003

haiz, yet another day of SARS imposed quarrantine...getting quite bored at home. forced to miss the meeting due to mum, due to some lame story about a HK doctor which i will not write here lest some very concerned parent reads it and grounds their child for 6 months. if u want to hear it ask me privately though, it is so far-fetched that i can't believe it...
Thanks to all the people who posted on the msg board.
Games completed over this imposed closure of schools: Mega Man Zero (second time, this time with a F grade, cos used too many cyberelves), Pokemon Sapphire
Waiting for: Rockman EXE 3, Matrix:Reloaded (May 15)
most importantly, 4-0. Need i say more? Bring on Real.
Inspired by Lau Quanhan who wrote a similar poem. hope u guys like it.

It's Friday night again,
Sitting on that old swivel chair,
Waiting for that pleasant, heavenly sound to ease my pain,
Where two lonesome minds become a chatty pair.

Hello, she says, the old conversation opener,
I'm fine, I reply, despite feeling a bit green.
And thus we converse eloquently, topics ranging from SARS to siblings to muggers,
Word by word, sentence by sentence, materialising on the flickering screen.

Time seemed to melt away, become inconsequential,
The clock ticked stoically away, the only other sound save for the soft tapping of the keyboard.
He seemed to live and breathe every word, right down to its bare essentials,
His eagerly awaited session had started, losing the connection was something he could not afford.

His eyes were closing, his mind fatigued, yet he still carried on his cheerful persona,
Like a punch drunk clubber, a cocaine fueled druggie,
He bumbled along, his bed beckoning him from afar,
Never shall I succumb, he swore, and persevered doggedly.

Sleep comes even to those who resists its soft embrace,
People come to tire of routines as they seem fit.
The CPU s cooling fan slows its pace,
Status offline, the screen now said, before it ceased to be lit.

It s Friday night again,
Sitting in that old swivel chair,
Waiting for that pleasant, heavenly sound to ease my pain,
Where two lonesome minds become a chatty pair.

It never came, he never knew why,
And it all seemed just like a lie.
For the familiar stranger had come and gone,
All was left, was me, alone.
